Step-by-step Instructions on How to Make Beaded Crystal Earrings:
Step 1: Choose Your Beads:
Select your beads. For this design the following beads were used: 3x2mm Black Crystal Rondelle Beads, 11/0 Silver Seed Beads, and 11x9mm Teardrop Crystal Beads. Feel free to chose any color or bead types as long as the sizes are the same you will achieve the same look.
Step 2: Prepare Your Workspace:
Lay out your beads, wire or thread, jump rings, earring hooks, pliers, and scissors on your work surface. Use a bead mat or tray to keep your beads organized and prevent them from rolling away.
Step 3: Measure and Cut your Thread:
Determine the desired size of your earrings and add a few extra inches for attaching the earring hooks and for finishing the piece off. Cut your thread to the appropriate length using scissors. The thread should measure approx. 30" inches to accommodate the completed beaded earrings size.
Step 4: Starting the Earrings:
Take the thread and pull it through a beading needle. Start with 4pcs of 3x2mm Black Crystal Beads. Start forming a knot. Tie 2-3 knots. Push the needle through the 2 crystal beads before adding your next set of beads.
Step 5: Adding the Next Loop of Beads:
Grab 3pcs of 3x2mm Crystal beads. Insert the needle through the crystal bead; opposite end from where the thread emerges. Repeat 5 times before changing the beading direction.
Step 6: Changing the Direction Downward Angle of the Beading Pattern:
Push your needle through 1 crystal bead instead of two in order to change the direction downwards. Repeat the same beading pattern 3 times before changing the direction.
Step 7: Changing the Direction Upward Angle of the Beading Pattern:
Push your needle through 3 crystal bead instead of one in order to change the direction upwards. Repeat the same beading pattern 3 times before changing the direction.
Step 8: Repeat Steps 4 and 5:
Push the needle through the 2 crystal beads before adding your next set of beads. Grab 3pcs of 3x2mm Crystal beads. Insert the needle through the crystal bead; opposite end from where the thread emerges. Repeat 5 times before changing the beading direction
Step 9: Connect the Beading Pattern Back to the Starting Point:
Push your needle through one bead to change the direction of the beading pattern back towards the starting point. Form two more bead loops before connecting. Take 1 crystal bead and push the needle through the crystal bead on the opposite side of the pattern. Take two beads and push it back through the same crystal bead on the other side. Push the needle through the next crystal beads to get to the exterior edge of the design.
Step 10: Start Adding the Size 11/0 Seed Beads:
Grad 1 pcs of Silver 11/0 Seed Beads and start adding them along the edge of the design by passing the needle through the next crystal bead all along the edge. Repeat until you get to the pointy edge of the design where the drop section will be added.
Step 11: Add your Black Crystal Teardrop Bead:
Add a 15x10mm Teardrop Bead as the center piece or focal point of this Earring. Grab 1 Teardrop bead and 3 pcs of size 11/0 seed beads. Pull the beads down the thread. Push the needle through the teardrop crystal bead only and then push it through the next crystal bead to secure it in place
Step 12: Continue Adding the Size 11/0 Beads Around the Edge:
Continue adding the size 11/0 silver seed beads around the edge of the design until you get to the top of the design.
Step 13: Add a Loop on the Top of the Earrings:
Add a loop on the top middle bead by adding 3x2mm black beads. Insert the needle back through the bead opposite end to where the thread emerges. Add 11/0 seed beads around the loop edge.
Step 14: Work your way back to the original thread:
Take the needle and work your way back through the pattern to the original starting point. Take the two threads and start forming a knot. Tie two three knots to secure the earrings in place. Push the needle through the next few beads.
Step 15: Cut the Excess Thread:
Cut both strands of excess thread left over. Add a dab of glue to your knot for extra security.
Step 16: Add an Earring Hook:
To finish your earrings add a jump ring to the top loop section of the earrings and than add an earring hook. Using plier close the jump ring.
Step 17: Finishing Touches:
Inspect your earrings for any loose beads or uneven sections, and make any necessary adjustments. Your handmade beaded crystal earrings is now ready to be worn or gifted with pride!
